Our Mission
The Chiapas Project : A Catholic Worker Community
The Chiapas Project is an intentional community with support throughout the world. The commitment is to attempt to live out the Gospels and nonviolent teachings of Jesus, of Gandhi, of Mohammed in our daily lives. These teachings are found in the Sermon on The Mount, the chapter on Jesus and Mary in The Koran and sometimes in the teachings of the Catholic Church. We are a living continuation of the Catholic Worker movement started in 1933, New York City, by our co-founders Dorothy Day and Peter Maurin.
